Carpet Or Hardwood Flooring – Which is Best to Install in Your Home?

Published by San Antonio Decorator under Flooring

Gone are the days when carpet used to be the first choice of most people to install in their home. Nowadays Hardwood flooring is one of the most popular options. There are pros and cons of each type and the prices of each can vary significantly. So before you go out and install new Berber carpet in your home, learn about other more fashionable and stylish options which can also be just as affordable as carpet.

Carpet designs can go out of style in a few short years but hard wood flooring will always be in style. If you ever notice any changes to your Hardwood floor, you can apply a new finish and recoat it to restore its brilliance.

Cleaning and caring for your carpet is a much tougher job than cleaning a wood floor. Even though most carpets are stain resistant, your kids will find a way to stain it right where everyone can see it as they walk in the room.

Then you have to call a professional steam cleaner to come in to clean up the mess. This can set you back a couple hundred bucks pretty easily. These carpet maintenance costs will likely offset any savings you were looking for compared to the cost of installing Hardwood flooring in the first place.

This does not mean that wide plank or bamboo is the perfect choice all the time. If you have little ones running around the house and they slip, they can get hurt by falling on hard wood surface compared to a cushioned carpet surface. You can remedy these situations by buying an area rug and putting it in high-traffic areas where your kids are likely to run around and fall.

Carpet prices can be as low as $1 per square foot with another $.50 to $1 per square foot for padding and installation. It goes up from there depending on what extra features you want like stain resistance and water resistance.

Hardwood flooring prices can also be as low as $1 per square foot for laminate flooring and up to $5 or more for hand scraped wood. Installation can run you $1 per square foot and up. The final decision will be based on your fashion tastes and how much you like cleaning your floor. Hardwood has lower maintenance costs while carpet requires you to vacuum it at least once a week if not more.

If you plan to stay in the home for a while and like a comparable cushion when you take your socks and shoes off, then carpet may be for you. If you plan to sell your home soon, and Hardwood flooring may be your best choice as it will be the most desirable by potential buyers.

There are so many choices when it comes to flooring. I’ve given you a few tips to help you decide between carpet and hardwood. Now it’s time to learn about other types of flooring that you may not have considered.

Remodelling your houses through the use of floorings

Published by Nora Davis under Uncategorized

Most homeowners love to tinker with the looks or designs of their houses.  Some people like decorating it. Some people love to buy nice furnitures. Some love to remodel their bathrooms and kitchens. But the one thing people have to do if they want a nice looking home is the flooring. The flooring is very important to the overall look of the house. It makes sense because it runs all throughout the house and is easily noticed. Do not overlook the flooring if you really have the plans in remodelling your house.

In these current times it is hard for people to spend money. But those that want to spend it on home improvement have some choices to make.  Of course running a carpet San Diego company my advice is to go with the flooring. If a person does not have enough money then overhauling the flooring is the cheapest and best option. It can transform the beauty of the house.  A lot of times for a lot less than some other options.

Of course there are some people who really are having a tough time.  They may not even be able to afford flooring.  So one thing they can do is clean what they have.If they have carpets then they should just maintain it so that the it won’t look old and unkempt.  Of course they have to make sure to use the best carpet cleaning supplies. If they choose to pick some cheap brands it could ruin the carpet.Or it can make the carpet look ugly.

But of course I would like them to replace their floorings. If a person does not have any issues with money then there are many choices to choose from.  Someone doesn’t have to just go with carpeting.  In my tile San Diego busines I offer my customers a lot of choices from hardwood floors to tiles.  Depending on what look they want will help them make the decision. They can immediately make their homes beautiful once they have decided what type of flooring they want to use.

Looking for Flooring?

Published by Nora Davis under Uncategorized

When your floor tiles are not up to scratch it is time to make the choice on what to do about it. That decision will depend on the room you are flooring. End of line products can help to make fantastic savings for covering small areas. Generally wet areas such as the kitchen or bathroom require a durable material and there are a lot of options available now without breaking the budget.

Amtico Spacia Floor tiles are a high quality floor product. These tiles are non-porous, long lasting with exeptional colour fastness enabling the tiles to retain stunning visual appeal for years to come. Let’s look into reasons why floor tiles are a perfectly ok option.

For kitchen and bathroom areas popular choices include laminate, vinyl and resin compound tiles. There are various differences, the main one being that a laminate will give you more of a wood type look without actually being wood, if that is the kind of look you are after.

Vinyl comes in a wood effect too and you might be amazed at the sheer number of colours, patterns and styles you can get. Go for a symetrical pattern such as a chessboard effect or go for completely different and contrasting tiles in rooms such as your kitchen, bathroom, WC or laundry room. Many years ago, vinyl tended to come with no more than one or two colour options, but not today. Flooring products have improved greatly over the last decade or so along with the colour, style, finish and cost options available.

Your first decision relates entirely to your budget. For cost efficient options laminate and vinyl are the two most desirable choices. Laminate is generally the least expensive choice. However, you can also find vinyl at comparable prices with a wide range of styles to suit your floor space.

Many people would love to be able to use real wood or real marble for their flooring but overall the cost factor usually makes this out of the question. Don’t despair as there are many vinyl and laminate options that give you that look of wood or marble but without the price tag. There is no comparison in quality but the finished results can be impressive to say the least.

There is always the option of having real wood floors or even marble tiles but it’s all about getting the right look for your home and the overall cost.

Immitation floor tiles have many benefits and you will often find they are manufactured to be very easy to clean and low maintenance and many also have excellent durability.

Vinyl comes in rolls and tiles of various sizes and you need to choose what will suit the overall area that you want to cover. After deciding on the brand, the task of choosing the colour or pattern of the tile will be the hardest part due to the wide range of options that you often have.

An important tip especially when you are looking to re-floor a small area is to look out for the sales at the local suppliers. Often over stocks or replaced designs or colours will be offered at special prices so you may find a bargain with usually quite expensive brands of vinyl being offered at a discounted rate. They do not always have the exact amount you want however so be careful if you want to floor a larger area of your house.

Just make sure you do your research, find out what special offers are available especially for the smaller areas such as the bathroom/WC. There are so many great deals to be found if you look for them.
