Additional insulation in your attic can provide cost savings on your utility bills and make you more comfortable in your home during extreme temperatures. Putting in a radiant barrier is one way to enhance your energy savings but you must pay attention to a few key areas to reap the most benefits.

A radiant barrier is designed to block the heat from the sun. If you place this type of reflective foil in your attic, where the sun hits your house first, you can reflect the heat back outside. This means your attic will stay cooler and less heat will be trying to make its way into your house.

You probably already have attic insulation to prevent this occurrence but traditional insulation doesn’t completely stop the heat. It absorbs as much of the heat as it can. How much it absorbs is dependent on how much insulation you have installed — how thick it is or its R-Value. Even if your insulation is at a recommended R-Value or above, you can still benefit from a radiant barrier. In fact, the different kinds of insulation will work together to improve your overall heat protection.

In order to enjoy the complete benefits of a radiant barrier, you must pay attention to a few rules or suggestions:

1. You will get the most bang for your buck if your air-conditioning ducts runs through the attic.

2. You have to install the radiant barrier reflective side facing into the attic whether you are hanging it from the rafters or laying it on the floor.

3. Results from a floor installation will be better if you keep the reflective foil free of dust.

4. You should not install the foil on the floor if you are using most of the area for storage.

5. Make sure you don’t cover kitchen or bathroom vents or recessed lights. This can create moisture and cause problems down the road.

4. Your attic must be well ventilated. Vents work to keep things cool in the summer and remove excess moisture in the winter. At minimum, you should have ridge or gable vents in this area of the house. If not, you should install them before adding a radiant barrier. Also make sure no vents are already blocked by insulation.

Lincoln is a resource for homeowners seeking to save energy, lower their utility bills with attic insulation, and improve the life of their HVAC system.

On hot summer days, solar energy is absorbed by your home’s roof. This heats the roof sheathing and causes the underside of the sheathing and roof framing to become hot. These surfaces then radiant heat downward toward your attic floor. Radiant barriers reduce the flow of energy; if applied to the underside of the rafters; radiant barrier would limit the amount of heat allowed to penetrate the home.

The amount of radiant heat striking the top of the insulation is lower than without, the insulation surface temp is lower and the heat flow into the living spaces is reduced. By reducing the energy reaching the attic floor, radiant barrier also reduces the attic air temperature.

Energy exchange is obviously greatest when the temperature difference is high; the underside of a roof deck will typically have a high emittance factor. When that wooden surface is covered by reflective insulation at a much lower remittance, the thermal radiation is reduced. When a radiant barrier with a high reflectivity is placed on top of the attic floor (traditional mass) insulation, much of the heat radiated from the hot roof is reflected back outwards.

During the winter, reflective insulation can reduce indoor heat loss through the ceiling, especially during the night time when the roof surface is the coldest. The downside is that they also reduce beneficial daytime heat gains due to solar heating. Depending on your climate, level of attic insulation and other factors, the net winter effect can be positive or negative.

In short, radiant barrier isn’t necessarily right for every home. But as a cost-savings tool, it’s certainly worth some investigation and comparison shopping.

Lincoln is a resource for homeowners seeking to save energy, lower their utility bills with attic insulation, and improve the life of their HVAC system.

Aside from harnessing energy from the sun, households today are utilizing energy sources from wind to. To do so, they build wind generators as an alternative to the regular power source. There are plenty of reasons behind building wind generators.

Whether it’s due to environmental concern or for financial reasons, one can simply agree that it is a good idea. Wind generators harness clean energy, and gives you about eighty percent for your power consumption. Depending on location, some households are able to cover their entire electrical needs from this natural power source.

Wind Generators As Alternatives To Solar Power

In some instances where the solar power cannot produce the required power input for household consumption. This is the time when they became very useful because it generates power using the wind. It can generate power input whenever the sunlight becomes unavailable. Sometimes they are also used in conjunction with each other in order to generate more power.

To make the wind turbine or generator, there are several materials needed in order to put the system in operation. Having all these materials assembled in accordance with the instruction will ensure an alternative source of energy to power simple household needs.

On the same manner to build a wind generator, the major components would include the blades, DC Motor, Battery and Inverter. Understanding how these parts are interrelated with each other is crucial to assemble it correctly.

Wind Generator Blades:

In generating the electrical energy, the blades of the wind generator move like a propeller of an airplane. In the past wind energy has been used in farms to power mechanical devices that were used in simple task of milling grain. It was also utilized in pumping water. The wind generation system is effective when it is in the proper location. The blades must be of equal shapes and at least three in number. This will produce an equal rotation, which will make the system work accordingly.

DC Motor:

The wind makes the windmill turn that produce rotation that affects the shaft. When this happens, an electric current is created by the rotation of the magnetic field. This will create a direct current (DC) electricity, which will eventually be converted to alternating current (AC) to be utilized for household electric consumption.

The Battery:

The energy produce by a solar or wind source is useless if it will not be stored. It is for these purposes that the battery is useful. Series of batteries can be utilized to store power for household use.

The Inverter:

When the energy is generated and stored in the battery, it is ready for use in household consumption. However, the needed current for household appliance and lights is an alternating current. The inverter is used to convert the direct current stored in the battery to an alternating current (AC).

If you live in a windy area, wind energy can simply work by itself. However, you can use this along with a solar power panel so that you can generate more energy. Solar panels and wind energy systems are commercially sold, but buying them isn’t always the best idea. The idea to build a wind generator is timely and essential, and is also viable as it can be done with the right guide and materials. In helping to conserve the natural resources, it is necessary to utilize all the potential renewable energy sources.

I built my own solar panels and a wind generator and saved well over $30,000. I get a cheque from the power company because I produce more energy than I use. If you’d like to learn how you can do the same check out Build A Wind Generator.

For years we used rotary washing lines for drying our clothes but after the advent of the electric tumble dryer we had almost forgotten the benefits of this product. But it is in fact much more effective and cost efficient alternative to the electric tumble dryer.

But if you have at home available space for installing a washing line then you should use it because it only needs fixing a spike on the ground for using it. There are innumerable benefits of this product as it offers enough hanging space for your clothes yet takes up a small space. It is also easy to keep since you can fold it and store it. If you have it installed in the garden, you can easily remove it and place it somewhere else when you are doing any other work in the garden.

It is also easy to maintain and clean because only a quick wipe will keep it clean and a cover will be enough to save it from accumulating dust and dirt. By using this product you actually save the environment from carbon emissions which is another side effect of using electric tumble dryer. Also nothing can match the freshness of the clothes which are dried in the sunshine which in turn increases the life span of the clothes. Once you have got a rotary washing line, if you use it properly, it can last for 10-20 years. No electric dryer would give you service for so long. Another advantage of using a rotary washing line is that it will show on the household electricity bill. It is energy efficient and not using the electric tumbler will help you save the electricity.

So if you are interested to save energy and be environment friendly, then use a rotary washing line instead of electric tumble dryer if the weather is fine.

You can read more information before you buy rotary washing line, and read exclusive reviews cascade dishwasher detergent from my websites.

Save money. It’s important, especially in today’s economy. Save resources. It’s important, especially in today’s world.

Did you know that it is possible and easy to save both money and resources at the same time? These natural gas saving tips will show you how.

*** How Low Can You Go ***

You take the high road and I’ll take the low. Better yet, let’s both take the low road and save a lot of money in the process.

What am I talking about?

Natural gas fuel economy by lowering your water heater settings.

Yes, I too like that warm shower hitting my body, especially in the winter time. However, if it is to hot you can actually be burned during your showers which is not good. Therefore, if you lower the settings on your water heater you can still have good warm showers, avoid being burned and save natural gas electricity along with your hard earned money.

If you don’t have to keep the tank as warm that hold your water then there will be much less activity for your water heater system to do.

*** Water Right ***

While you’re at it choose energy efficient hot water tanks and appliances. Natural gas heating bills will look much better when they are connected to the right tools for your economic success.

*** WWC Insulation ***

No, this is not some high tech insulation code that you must rush out and secure.

It is however the first letters of:

• Walls
• Ceilings
• Windows

Why?

Because you want to be sure that these areas area insulated for best success in winter and even summer time. The better your insulation the lower your bills and the warmer you are.

Being warm during those cool winter mornings is indeed a beautiful thing.

*** Home Unplugged ***

If an appliance isn’t being used then unplug it.

I know, it’s a hassle to always be plugging things in and perhaps those items which are used on a daily basis shouldn’t apply to this. You decide how much you want to save.

The appliances I’m talking about are those that only get used weekly, monthly or even less. And yet they remain plugged in and draining your wallet.

“But it’s not being used,” you say.

Most devices still take a drain on the natural gas electricity even so. Especially if they have one of those warning lights that let you know there is power going to the device. You know, like an iron, cell phone charger or power strip.

• Lower water heater settings
• Choose energy efficient hot water tanks
• Insulate walls, ceilings & windows
• Choose energy-efficient appliances

There is one tip you can use today without altering your lifestyle in any way. How about a natural gas saving tips that simply lower your bill? Would that be of interest to you? Of course it would. You can find out all the secrets about this at Calculate Power.

Besides natural gas saving tips, Calculate Power and its family also helps people save money on cell phones, land lines, alarm systems, Internet, cable and more while continuing to use their same exact service providers. And saving money is something we all can afford to do today.

Through newspapers, Internet, radio and television we hear a lot about global warming, climatic changes and energy saving. We hear experts talking about how critical it is to use energy saving products in our day-to-day lives and thus reduce pollution and loss of energy. The issue has become so important that many organizations are working hard trying to reduce energy through demonstrations and street talks to increase the level of consciousness among people.

But is it the responsibility of the organizations and scientists alone to do something about this severe issue? Of course not! We, the public, are equally responsible to stop just listening to others talking and come out and act. It is not necessary to go out in the streets and talk to strangers about this. There are different minute, but not less helpful, ways in which we can do our share. And the easiest and most convenient way for this is using energy saving products.

We know how important energy in its different forms is in our lives. Modern day life is completely dependent on energy in each of its sphere be it transportation, communication, construction, and many more. So much of energy is getting consumed every day, every minute that very soon our future generation would have no energy to use. Using energy saving products is our way to join this campaign to save energy.

Products and appliances that save energy are not as rare as we imagine. Some of them are quite common like CFL lamps, solar chargers, water saving spouts, eco kettle, energy saving plugs, etc.

Using these products is helpful not only on a global level but also on a personal level. They help us save on our electricity bills and thus save money. Though they might be priced higher than the normal energy consuming products in the long run they save so much on the bills that the cost saved is soon almost double the cost of the products themselves. So what are you waiting for? Save energy and save earth, save your future generations.

Energy Saving Products form Doctor Energy Limited.

How about to have your Green project to build a solar panel – your Green Power Generator?

So, why solar energy? Very simple, it’s clean, it’s free of charge and it’s everywhere in the world. When you use it, you don’t pollute natural environment. Solar energy is a Green energy that can reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, Carbon Dioxide, which cause global warming.

We all knew the merits of solar energy but the commercial available solar energy system just too EXPENSIVE to deploy it at their home. It is easily cost you up to USD20,000! The price is just too ridiculous for ordinary people like you and me. It might take another 20 years until our government to finalized the new policy to subsidy and to force those billionaire solar system suppliers to bring down their price to the reasonable and affordable level.

Thought this is always right – If it is to BE, It must BE UP TO ME! Why not do it by our self?

You can start your GREEN project by building a solar panel to power your home with solar energy! There are plenty of references in internet teach you how to build a solar cell, frankly, most of it are scam or not efficient!

One of the conventional way of making solar energy system is using a cupric oxide that form on a copper, for instance, using burner. By attaching another un-processed copper panel with alligator clips to the wide-mouth glass jar, then dip both panels in a salt water and expose it to the sun. You will able to generate tiny of electricity. You can find the detail process for this experiment in the internet easily. It’s fun to have a try on this method, but it won’t be efficient to power your home. Who know you might be the next great inventor to improve this solar panel efficiency into the acceptance level?

Have fun with your solar panel project and GREEN the Earth!

There is a widespread impression that clean energy is expensive. Well, it is, but there are ways of financing it to reduce or eliminate upfront costs. Property owners need to be proactive in looking for these options.

PACE financing, or property assessed clean energy financing, gives property owners the chance to make renewable energy and/or energy efficiency retrofits without any upfront costs. That’s right, if you live in a participating municipality, you may qualify for a PACE bond which will allow you to pay off the costs of retrofits through your property taxes over a 15 or 20 year period.

PACE bonds are an idea that originated from a Berkeley, CA finance company, Renewable Funding. Renewable Funding partnered with the city to help provide homeowners with a way to fund the installation of solar energy systems and energy efficiency improvements. The “Berkeley First” program allowed homeowners to borrow the money and repay it through their home property taxes over a 20 year period.

There are several very enticing benefits to this PACE program:

- Virtually no upfront costs and no impact on your equity
- No credit or general obligation risk
- Tax liability is transferred to the new owner and upgrades remain with the property if sold
- Financing costs are comparable to a mortgage or equity line
- Property tax liens are senior to mortgage debt making borrowers less susceptible to foreclosure
- Financing is guaranteed as it comes from the IRS
- Lower energy bills and improved return on investment/positive cash flow
- Immediate creation of jobs in renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors

The need for PACE bonds is estimated to exceed more than $500 billion in the coming years. The result is a significant decrease in our greenhouse gas emissions and a strengthening of our energy independence. PACE funding will make solar energy and energy efficiency more attainable and create a greater demand for jobs in both industries.

An organization that provides the elements necessary to launch or increase sales and revenue for solar businesses. We offer the latest innovative solar products, solar financing, leads, marketing, and business support; all the key components to starting a solar company.

Is installing residential solar panels in your home a smart long-term investment, or a money pit? If it really will pay for itself, how long will that take? What will be the return on your investment?

This question is hard to answer because there are so many different factors to consider, and no two people’s situation are alike. The number of residential solar panels, how much power your house uses, the cost of electricity, geographic location, and even time of year can all affect your return on investment. You’ll have to do the calculations yourself for your individual situation, and this article will explain how.

Step One: Cost of Residential Solar Panels

First, get a quote on how much your panels will cost (including installation). If you plan to build your own panels, this can be a bit harder to calculate. However, it’s safer to over estimate the costs to build the panels than to under estimate.

For example, let’s say you pay $3000 for a solar power system, however, with a complete solar power system blueprint, such as from Earth4Energy, they’ve proven it’s possible to build your own cheap solar panels for less than $200. This is how much money the panels will have to save you before you break even. Money you save after that point is pure profit, a return on your investment.

Step Two: Subtract Tax Credit

The federal government grants home owners a tax credit for installing residential solar panels that is equal to 30% of the cost of the solar power system. If you build your own cheap solar panels, keep the receipts and keep careful records, just in case of an audit.

Subtract the tax credit from the cost of your panels. This is your new break even point. For example, if your panels cost you $3000, then 30% of that would be $900. If you subtract $900 from $3000, you get $2100-and that’s how much money you’d have to save to break even on your investment.

Step Three: Estimate Daily Solar Electricity Generated

Next, you need to know how much electricity your residential solar panels can generate per day. This number can vary from day to day depending on cloud cover, daylight hours, and geographic location, so you’ll have to get an average number from the manufacturer or distributor. If you build your own Cheap Solar Panels, you’ll have to estimate it yourself. For the sake of example, let’s just say your home-built solar panels generate an average of 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day.

Step Four: Cost of Electricity

Check your power bill and see how much you pay per kWh of electricity. For example, let’s say its $0.15 per kWh.

Step Five: Do the Math

Find out how much you are saving on your power bill per day by multiplying the amount of solar electricity generated by the cost per kWh. For example, if your cheap solar panels generate 5 kWh per day, and one kWh costs $0.15, then you save $0.75 on your power bill per day. This may not sound like much, but it adds up quickly to $23.25 per month and $273.75 per year.

Finally, to see how long it will take for your solar power home to pay for themselves, divide the cost of the cheap solar panels (minus the tax credit), and divide it by the amount of money you save per month. For example, that would be $2100 divided by $23.25. The result is 90 months, or seven and a half years. Or if you built your own with Earth4Energy your break even point will be considerably less and well worth looking into. Any money saved after that is pure return on investment.

Installing residential solar power by building your own cheap solar panels is definitely a great financial investment and an excellent contribution to the environment for a greener world.

Are you looking for ways to implement a solar power home at low cost, get quick ROI by building your own cheap solar panels and save even more money off?

There are many reasons to go for solar panels. Some of them are savings, less utilization of other power resources and protects environment from pollution. But before installing the you must know where to install it. You must install the solar panel in correct place to full utilize solar panels power. You must install the panel on the roof of your home where you get maximum of the sunlight, so that panel can have the best access to the sun light. Installing the panel at the roof is not the good option because if your roof is not south facing then you can not receive much of sunlight. So for that case you must install it in some other place where sunlight is best. You have to know more about it by reading the article below.

You must also consider the shade in the region of installation. Shading can lower down the efficiency of the panel. Shading can take place due to trees, vents and other obstructing materials. Also the direction of sun changes continuously, which can create problem in determining shading. There is tool that can help you in finding out the shading for full year. This tool is known as solar path finder and that can be ordered through internet.

Solar panels power can be consumed for more than 30 years. So you do not need to install it on small interval, if it is once install will last for 30 to 50 years. If you are living in the areas that are prone to dust, rain and snow then you need to clean it occasionally.

Ready to learn all about the cheap solar panels?
